Go To Using F5

In an earlier post, I mentioned that the last cell in Excel was XFD1048576.

If you needed to scroll from cell A1 to cell XFD1048576, you could use the arrow keys on the keyboard but it will take you some time to get there. Fortunately Excel allows you to jump to a specific cell. Just press the F5 function key on your keyboard.

The Go To dialog box will appear. Just type the cell you want to go to and click the OK button.

If you click on the Special button, the Go To Special dialog box will appear.

Maximum Size Of Worksheet

The cell reference address is displayed in the Cell Name Box and is determined by its representative column letter and row number. The first cell displayed in the upper left hand corner of any new workbook is cell A1 (the intersection of column A and row 1).

Excel allows over one million rows of data and over sixteen thousand columns of data. As Excel gets close to column Z, Excel doubles the letters and repeats the process so the column address’s show as W, X, Y, Z, AA, AB, AC…

If you were to go to the very last possible column its address would be XFD. If you went to the very last cell, its address would be XFD1048576.
